A Perspective On Perspectives
This project called for the use of different perspectives. The first mini-practice was exploring the use of different point-perspectives. I had to learn the template for all four types while thinking about which one to follow through with for my final product.
Because this was a perspective project, I began sketching different building positions to create a background for my story. I hadn't really come up with an idea at this point.
I experimented with different building placements and perspectives.
Finally, I settled on an octopus attack on a city! I tested different point perspectives and octopus locations on the building, before choosing the one that I thought would look best. I eventually settled on three-point perspective because it would make the building, as well as the octopus look very intimidating and large, compared to the rest of the elements.
I tested out different orientations of the octopus attack.
For my final sketch, I drew a slightly larger thumbnail to make sure that I was able to draw the buildings in correct perspective in order to make it look realistic. Finally, I made some footnotes stating what colors I wanted to fill in the elements.
I painted in the drawing with watercolors and added some fine details with colored pencils and a white pen for highlights for the finished piece.
