Behind "Dawn By the River" (Featured in the FUHSD Annual Art Show!)

The primary goal of this art piece was to use only three colors, also known as a triad. I had never done this before so I experimented with different color schemes, making sure to keep the color wheel in mind in order to prevent murkiness and imbalance between the color combinations.

I started with a simple set of four mini paintings, each using a different color triad.

Once I had understood color harmony and which colors seemed to work together, I began to think about which idea would work with this concept, and which colors would work with my idea. I finally decided to replicate a landscape painting, solely using the colors: green, blue and orange (and white).

I sketched potential ideas.

I repainted a used canvas using acrylic paints for this piece (I think that the uneven texture of the canvas actually worked in my favor because it adds some interesting dimension to the landscape). I used a photograph (@bailyzindel) for my reference.

I was extremely happy with the final piece and had the privilege of this work being showcased at the FUHSD Annual Art Gallery (2022).
